New Age Babysitter the Computer Kids and Computer Useage Internet Porn Internet Sex Internet

Are kids spending too much time on the Internet?

For a long time  parents were allowing their kids to be babysat by their televisions. Well, that still is going on, but now we’ve introduced a new babysitter-the computer. Kids are spending hours upon hours in front of the computer screen today. Just recently a survey was conducted on kids aged 8 to 16 , and found that children are spending seven hours a day in front of an electronic device. Teens especially were spending many hours a day multitasking by watching TV, text messaging and using their computers, all at the same time.

Yes, kids are spending many hours each day in front of an electronic device, and kids are being babysat by computers. Young children have replaced the TV with the computer. Pre-teens are using cellphones at an early age, and kids are sitting in front of TVs for many hours.

At one time, parents were allowing the kids to be babysat by the TV. While many kids are still watching a lot of TV, while mom and Dad are at work, or are home doing housework, now kids are logging onto the computer and mom and Dad are using computers as the new age babysitters.

It’s sad to think, that kids get more computer time, than family interaction time. Perhaps it is time to do household chores with the kids, and talk to them at the same time. It’s sad to think that your kids know how to look things up on Google, and don’t know how to play Monopoly, or other board games.

The computer may even be replacing your current household babysitter-the TV. Many kids come home from school when parents aren’t home from work yet, and instead of turning on the TV, they jump on the Internet. It is equally scary that your child can be accessing Internet porn, and Internet predators. Kids can access whatever they want on the Internet, much more so than what they watch on TV. While nudity and sex are widespread on TV, they can just Google the words, sex and porn and view millions of images not meant for a person under the age of 18.

It might be time to get rid of the Internet connection at home, or place the computer in a locked room. Perhaps, giving an older child a laptop may be a good idea, while allowing a younger child to have one, is not such a great idea. Even calling your kids, and asking if they are on the computer is not enough, because they can still go on without your approval. Unless, you are the parents that don’t allow your kids to have your password, and you have told them not to go on the computer when you are not home. You can also give your child a lot of work to do after school to keep them busy.

When you are home, monitor your kids use of the new age babysitter, the computer because it is has become a scary Internet world out there!
