How not to be a Stereotypical Teenager

The high school scene is more intense now than ever. It gets harder and harder to fit in to social standards. Most teens are subject to stereotyping without even trying. Finding a way to remove yourself from the group is not entirely impossible, though. First of all, you must realize that you will be categorized with teenagers regardless because of your age. Secondly, try not to give your parents such a hard time. It may be hard to accept, but they were your age once. Your parents only want the best for you. Plus, a majority of the time they are right.

Typically, teenagers feel smothered by their parents. Try not to worry. This is normal. Give them a chance to teach you about things. If your parents realize you are learning they may give you more responsibility. The more responsible you become, the more you get to do. It is basically a little give and take. Always remember, the more you rebel, the more things will be rocky in the household.

What about all of these raging hormones? At your age your body is going through a lot of changes. It is hard to avoid feeling overwhelmed at times. This is totally normal. Eventually you will get used to the change. Hormones can affect different parts of your mind and body. Just accept that it has to happen and find the best way to deal with it. Taking your anger and aggressions out on everyone around you is just going to make the problem worse.

When you think of a typical teenager, what comes to mind? The stereotypes in place are endless. Chances are you will not be able to avoid them all. Just try to realize that you are not going to be a teenager forever. You will look back on these days one day and laugh. It may not be the best time of your life, but you are going to miss being young. This is the time of your life when it is acceptable to be different. It is essential now to concentrate on what lies ahead while still enjoying your youth. Stay in your comfort zone and pursue what interests you. Do not let your friends run your life. Your decisions now will impact the rest of your life. Remember to have fun and enjoy being young. Once you reach the working world you will not have time for all the things you wanted to do.
